A tight-knit, active, and hands-on family in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn is seeking a weekend Family Helper / Nanny for their two children, ages 2 and 3.5 years old.

The growing family will soon welcome their third child in September! The position starts as soon as possible.

2 Schedules are possible depending on the right candidate's availability.

1) Weekends Only: Saturdays and Sundays, the general schedule will be 8:00 am—6:00 pm, with flexibility needed to shift the hours.

2) OR Friday through Sunday: 

  • Fridays: 7:45 am - 6:00 pm or 1/2 days starting in the afternoons on Fridays. 

  • Saturdays and Sundays, the general schedule will be 8:00 am—6:00 pm, with flexibility needed to shift the hours.

The family is seeking a flexible and enthusiastic individual who can proactively help run the household smoothly and engage the children in fun activities.

The right candidate will be patient, understanding, flexible with scheduling and responsibilities, honest, trustworthy, safe, and super active.

The ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to work alongside the parents and communicate regularly.

Since the parents are often out with the children on the weekends, the ideal candidate should also be flexible, proactive, and hands-on with helping around the home and staying productive while the children are out, napping, etc.

Finally, there are several flights of stairs in the home as well as walking required to / from school, parks, and activities on Fridays.

The family travels occasionally on weekends and would like the nanny to join them on their adventures!

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a safe, engaging, and positive environment for the children.

  • School drop off and pick up on Fridays (30 min walk each way).

  • Proactively take the children to playdates, the park, and activities. Engage the children in age-appropriate activities.

  • Morning, bedtime, and bath-time routines.

  • Meal preparation, including lunches, dinners, and snacks.

  • Keep the common areas extremely clean, sanitized, and tidy – in particular the kitchen.

  • Laundry and folding.

  • Make the children’s beds and changing the sheets when needed.

  • Run errands and grocery shop on weekends, when needed.

  • Unbox groceries and deliveries and restocking them. Organize the pantry and other storage areas on weekends, when needed.

  • Identify when new items are needed, such as when household items need to be replenished.

  • Work with the parents to identify and implement strategies for new milestones (for instance, teaching kids new skills such as dressing themselves; implementing age-appropriate chores, etc.)

  • Occasional domestic travel (usually within a few hours from NYC)

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of nanny experience.

  • Experience with toddlers.

  • Flexible with scheduling.

  • 2-3 valid references. 

  • Local resident. 

  • Physically capable of walking distances with the children, handling stairs in the home, and navigating a double stroller (including up a few steps in the front yard).

  • A team player attitude in working with the parents, who are hands-on and involved.

  • A great communicator.

  • Proactive, warm, loving, thoughtful, with a bright and positive attitude.

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and extremely high integrity.

  • Extremely safety conscious.

 

A major plus is a candidate who can travel with the family several weekends out of the year (including a stretch of several weeks during the summers, when the family is typically out of the city).

 

Compensation: $35.00 + per hour, gross pay.

There will be opportunity for additional compensation from travel with the family and as the family grows. 

Benefits:  3 days of paid vacation days and 3 days of paid sick days. Paid federal holidays that fall on a regularly scheduled workday (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
