Everything You Need to Know About Holiday Bonuses for Nan...

Tis’ the season of giving gifts and showing gratitude!

We receive many questions from families and nannies this time of year about holiday bonuses. Here are some of the most common questions answered.

1. How much should I give my nanny as a holiday bonus?

The amount is at the employer’s discretion and typically based on the employee’s performance for the year or how long the employee has worked for the employer.

One to two weeks of regular pay is the most common amount.

2. Are you giving your part-time nanny a holiday bonus?

If the employee works consistent part-time hours, it’s standard to give a holiday bonus of 1-2 weeks of regular pay.

3. When should I give my nanny their holiday bonus?

Holiday bonuses are typically expected anytime between the last two weeks in December and the end of the first week in January.

4. Is it a requirement to give my nanny a holiday bonus?

It’s not a requirement, but it is a standard in the childcare industry. There’s no better way to express gratitude than to gift your a holiday bonus!

Thoughtful gifts are fantastic tokens of appreciation. However, they are not considered a substitution for a standard bonus.

Bonuses are standard expectations for doing a job well and should be given if the employer plans on retaining the employee.

5. What are unique gift ideas for my nanny?

Last year, we shared a list of fun and creative ideas to gift your nanny.

Some other ideas include spa services, a gas card or MetroCard, or other gift ideas catered to nannies

No matter how you celebrate this holiday season, it’s essential to ensure that your nanny knows just how appreciated they are.
