A warm and welcoming family on the Upper East Side is seeking a nanny who is knowledgeable about child development, experienced, and engaging for their daughter who will be 8.5 months old at the time of start. 

This position starts on April 10th, 2023. 

Both parents were born and raised in NYC and work FT. Mom works for a law firm and Dad works for a local college. Flexibility for a slight shift in the schedule on occasion (1 or 2 hours) is important. The parents know their schedules in advance and will give ample notice to allow the nanny to plan accordingly.

This general schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (guaranteed 40 hours per week).

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant nanny experience with infants, toddlers, and multiple children in the same family and will be warm, nurturing, organized, tidy, punctual, engaging, patient, creative, active, playful, enthusiastic about nurturing the child’s interests, have excellent communication skills, excellent references, sound judgment, and interest in a long-term nanny position.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Bottle feedings and sterilization of equipment.

  • Diaper changes, baths, and support of healthy hygiene.

  • Keeping the main spaces of the home and the child’s room clean and tidy, including floor areas where child was crawling and playing. 

  • Supporting the achievement of age-appropriate milestones (tummy time, walking, eating solids, sleep/potty training, learning to speak and read) 

  • Taking the child to appointments, activities, school, etc.

  • Helping to set & keep the child on a schedule.

  • Meal preparation for the child and feedings.

  • Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy after meals.

  • Planning activities.

  • Child's laundry. Folding and putting clothes away. 

  • Restocking child-related items and the diaper bag.

  • Maintaining a schedule and a daily communication log. 

The family enjoys going on walks in Central Park, taking trips to the New York Botanical Gardens, and going to Yankee games. A suitable candidate is someone who also enjoys the outdoors, supports their daughter with positive reinforcement, encourages her to respect others and the environment, and who will encourage a love for learning, exploration, and play.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant nanny experience.

  • Legally permitted to work in the U.S. 

  • Clean background check.

  • Able to commit to at least a year. 

  • Pet friendly (they have two cats)

  • Fully Vaccinated and boosted. 

 

Salary: $30-35 gross hourly based on experience and credentials. 

Benefits: 10 paid vacation days, Federal holidays on scheduled work days, 5 sick/personal days, MTA reimbursement. Other benefits can be negotiated for the right candidate.
