Nanny Needed in NYC

A kind, easy-going family in Nolita, NYC is seeking a warm, thoughtful nanny for their daughter, age 2. They are welcoming their second child into the world in January!  

They are flexible to meet the needs of the right candidate seeking 30 - 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and have flexibility on the start date. 

The ideal schedule, for now, is approximately 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm, though there is room to accommodate more hours if needed.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to everything relating to the children’s care and well-being: 

  • Engaging with the child in age-appropriate activities.

  • Pick up from school 

  • Accompaniment to activities.

  • Meal preparation for the child.

  • Children’s laundry

  • Keeping the children’s room and the main spaces in the apartment clean and tidy.

  • Promoting feelings of security, confidence, happiness, and fostering independence.

The ideal candidate will have flexibility with the schedule and will be kind, engaging, playful, honest, safety-conscious, experienced, organized, and seeking a long-term position. 

The family spends the months of June and July in Long Island. The right candidate will be able to fulfill the weekly hours in some capacity in L.I over the summer. That could mean staying a few nights during the week, or if the candidate drives and prefers, that could mean working 4-5 days per week, possibly different hours than the rest of the year. It will be based on what works with the right candidate.  

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant nanny experience in long-term positions. 

  • Comfortable with an infant as well as a toddler. 

  • 2-3 Relevant references.

  • Legally permitted to work in the U.S.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified.

  • Clean background check.

Major Pluses (but not requirements) include;

  • Family Assistant responsibilities could be added for more weekly hours. Responsibilities would include assisting the parents with organizational tasks, basic research, ordering supplies, groceries, and basic cooking/preparation for the family. 

  • Infant care experience. 

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and the agreed-upon schedule and responsibilities.
