Wonderful NYC Nanny - Mercy
I recently had the opportunity to interview Mercy at Cafe Jax on the Upper East Side where we discussed all things Mercy.

Mercy radiates a positive and intellectual energy. Her zest for life is exemplified by her compassion, drive and work ethic.

Children love her because she makes an extra effort to understand their needs and to engage with them on their level. Parents love her because she is responsible and brings positive energy into the home.

Here is a snippet from our interview:

How many years of experience do you have as a Nanny and with which age groups?

M: I have 10+ years experience working with children ranging in age from 4 months to 16 years old.

What do you love most about being a nanny?

M: What I love most about being a nanny is seeing the growth and changes in each child. No matter how many times I see a baby go from stationary to crawling to walking, I still marvel at it.

How do you use your education in American Sign Language/ASL/English Interpreting to effectively communicate with babies and toddlers?

M: American Sign Language is a great way to communicate with babies and toddlers, especially during the period when they are developing needs and wants, but aren’t yet to be able to formulate the words. Using ASL gives them an outlet to express themselves and helps curb their frustration - which helps everyone have a better day!

As an assistant director and Educator at the Grumblethorpe Historical House, what type of educational programs did you lead?

M: At Grumblethorpe, we emphasized teaching school-aged children about the history of the neighborhood where they live, so I led tours and activities on-site and in nearby schools. We churned butter, baked bread from scratch, made candles, and tended the garden and honey bees on site. It was great opportunity to find new ways to help history come alive for the kids.

Why chose to work with A Nanny Match?

M: I chose to work with A Nanny Match because they take their work seriously while remaining open and engaging, and they're knowledgeable about all things family related!

Why did you choose to become a nanny?

M: I chose to become a nanny because I love seeing the world through a child’s eyes. Everything is new and precious, which reminds me to find joy in the little things and not take anything for granted.
